I was tagged . . .

I couldn't believe it. I looked in to see if anyone had visited and I found comment #11. I always seem to get comments after Show and Tell Friday. Thank you Kelli.
I really enjoy seeing everyones Show and Tells and meeting new people. And when people come over and visit me and leave comments I am just wowed. Well today I found #11 and along with it was "your tagged". So I went over to see what she was talking about and I followed her trail back to a bunch of people and it was quite interesting. I read some really neat blogs and it was interesting to see the people that other people tagged.
So I'll be playing along once I think of the words for my memoirs. I have to think of six words and then tag 5 people. Now the tagging part won't be hard but the memooirs(especially since I can't even spell it correctly) is hard for me. I have one figured out already and it goes with the trailing back and reading all the other tags. Wonder what I am thinking?
I think it will be fun so friends start thinking about your memoirs because you will probably be next.
I have had an amazingly busy week and weekend with family and with the ministry and I didn't get to post any animals stories yesterday so I'll hold off till next week so my animal friends hang on. Next week will be worth the wait.
And, I don't have a verse of the week yet. So will have to post that tomorrow I hope. But one thing I do know about myself #2 I guess on the memoirs is I need a plan. Some people don't like the Monday this and Tuesday that type of blogging but I am a plannig person so I usually end up writing certain things on certain days. It is just the way I am. I hope you enjoy.
See you all tomorrow with photo's of the baby shower. My new grandbaby will be here soon. I was amazed today at the shower. My daughter the guest of honor baked and decorated sugar cookies for everyone. They were decorated with the letter "Z" because the babies name will be Christian Zane. And she filled little baggies with m&m's (she had to talk out all the lavendar ones. She probably ate them). But I should have expected something amazing. She made her wedding bouquet. We were up till 3 in the morning the night before the wedding making the bouquets. And she baked cheesecakes for the groomscake. Did I say she is amazing. This child of mine. Oh by gosh... I can't stand it. Here's a photo. This is taken at the shower planning party over lunch at corner bakery. She is the one with the extra around the middle. LOL isn't she adorable. You should have seen her today. I am sorry. I just think she is just amazing. She is the sunshine of my life.

And tomorrow is her birthday so maybe I won't get to post those memoirs but if I don't well as Scarlet would say "Tomorrow is another day." Isn't that what she said. Well something like that.
Blessings to all and I hope everyone has an amazing week. Be thinking about those 6 words 'cuz you just might get tagged!

Friday Show and Tell

Welcome again to Show and Tell. Everyone I visited last week mentioned how much they missed it. But we were all glad Kelli took the time to spend with family.
My Show and Tell this week is a bit of an assortment of collections, and more photo's of decorating in my home. First is a photo I started to share when I showed the Horse theme bathroom. I didn't show it because I didn't like the way it turned out. I'll explain . . here it is first.
I bought these on ebay. They are not old but someone did some really nice embriodery on them. They have been used in the kitchen and now hang in the horse bathroom. Notice the dingy look. That is bio-freeze or ben gay or something that Cowboy rubbed into his knee.(the horse bathroom is right next to the den where he spent his time recuperating after knee replacement in January.)
I was embarrased to show them when I showed the rest of the bathroom. Now you wonder why did she decide to show them now. Well here's why . . .

These are lovely hand made towels that I received all the way from Germany. I joined the Sassy apron swap and got these as a bonus.
I love to collect towels. Usually I collect vintage ones and have a huge pile of them that I try really hard not to let Cowboy get a hold of. Now you know why.
He promised me he would not touch the new ones. I think they are adorable and they match this
My new apron that I can wear (but mostly just look at) I also love aprons they don't have to be vintage. Check out my Spring Decorations Show and Tell to see another one of my aprons.
I hope that you enjoyed seeing my collections and hearing my stories. If you have any ideas to help me rein in that Cowboy let me know. He is the worlds worst at spilling tomato sauce on a counter and his hand just goes directly to the whitest towel in the drawer. He will pass right over a red plaid everytime!
But he has promised to do better and I won't let him touch the new towels!
Have a Blessed Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Peace/Thanksgiving/Joy/Patience

These are my two best friends. My husband aka Cowboy and my dog Daisy. (I have written a little about Daisy in my Saturday editions go read my archives and check them out. There is quite a story about how she came to live with us.)
This morning as I was reading (I started with the 23 Psalm because I think today is the 23. I am not sure) And then I read Psalm 24 God made(claims) the earth and everything in it. Who can climb to the mountain of God? Who can scale the wholy north face? Only the clean handed, only the pure in heart. (the Message) Oh I pray to be clean handed and pure in heart. Because I know and I realize that all the stuff that goes on (the good and the bad) that I can only trust in God to see me through. He gives me strength. He gives me patience. And somedays I can only find Joy in Him. And that is when it is the hardest. Somedays the only thing that is tangible that I can touch and see and feel are my two best friends. It is through them that I see God's love. His patience. His peace.
I realized this morning while I was reading that God had indeed answered a pray. (I don't think I am totally ready to write about it but.)
This thing that was/is going on has totally broken my heart. It has been a burden to me. I didn't happen or start yesterda,or the day before. It was almost 2 years ago. And it still continues. It still lingers. It still hurts. A while back God lead me to Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. I realized this morning that as I prayed he would fix this situation. That he would make everything right. The way I wanted everything to be. (And ultimately the way God intended) To give me back what I needed. I knew that making everything right would heal my heart. But that is not what he did. What he did was he filled me with Peace. And quite possibly a little patience. But the Peace is the part that I needed. It wasn't what I wanted. In my hurt and my pain I did ask for Peace. But it really wasn't what I wanted. But that is what I have. Peace to make it through this situation. Peace to rest and not grow weary. To trust in him even though I don't understand. I wait. I long. But I am not longing.
Yesterday I read my Bible. On Sunday I read. Sunday is usually the day that I choose the verse I intend to work on for the week. I wasn't able to find one. Doesn't that sound silly? I mean look at it the Bible is a big book. Lots of verses to choose. But I couldn't find the right one. Then this morning while I was thinking about the Peace that God has given me. I heard a song on the Chrisitian music channel it was by a new group (at least new to me) Cadia. The song is Trust in me now. (I am trying to download it or at least get the lyrics. Please check back. It is amazing) I went to thier myspace to down load it and here is what I found.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:6-7
I mentioned awhile back about my journey to remembering and memorizing scripture. I realized I have so much scripture buried in my head but I don't know where it is. I think this is one of those. So it should be easy to remember this week especially since I have already lost two days. But I believe that this is the verse that my God, my Father wanted me to remember this week.
Today I have peace, I have joy, I have patience (just barely) and I have Thankgsiving because I know that my God does care and I know that he does heal the broken hearted.
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everythin,by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

Saturday Dog and Cat stories Easter edition

I hope everyone has a Happy Easter tomorrow. This is Rhett Butler. I played around with this photo and put a frame on it and the caption for our Easter special edition.
Rhett Butler is a Flemish Giant. I don't know how much he weighs but his breed can be as big as 24 pounds. He is bigger than both our cats. He is really sweet. He loves any kind of dark green lettuce romaine and bibb especially. You can't feed rabitts iceberg lettuce. So we don't even buy it anymore. I use romaine in everything including tacos. He loves, loves, loves carrots. He is munching one in this photo. He stays in our mudroom during the winter but when it gets too hot I have to move him into the utility room because it is air conditioned. When he is in the mudroom he can run free but during the hottest time of the year he is in a big cage unless I let him out for a "hop". I bought a harness to take him outside to play in the grass but I have never been really successful with that. Mainly my fault I just haven't taken the time. Too many other things to do. Rhett Butler has a tatoo inside his ear. It is a breeder marking. When I first got him I intended to raise flemish giants. But after two unsuccesful births with another rabitt I decided not to do that again. It was traumatic for me to loose the babies. We intended to buy him a girl friend and we were going to name her Scarlet. But we didn't after deciding not to breed. He lives with "Danger" my gray lop eared bunny. I think Rhett Butler must be related to this bunny who lives in Germany.

He is even bigger than Rhett Butler. I think he is really cute and he is famous he has been on t.v. and in the news.
My Rhett Butler isn't famous. He did wnat me to tell you though that he could be. He was contacted by the Cadbury company but he didn't take the offer because he didn't want to leave home. (LOL) (Please he really thinks this happened please don't tell him ok.)
We hope that you have enjoyed seeing R.B.'s photo and hearing a little about him.
And please have a Happy Easter. Enjoy your family.
Blessings,Sherry

The empty cross and . . .

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shoook and became like dead men. the angel said to the women. "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he is risen, just as he said.
Matthew 28:1-6

Yes. The cross is empty. That is one question that many of the teenagers that I see everyday have. Because they have seen so many pictures of Jesus on the cross. But the wonderful thing is he didn't stay on the cross. He was buried but he rose again on the third day thus fulfilling what was said would happen. And he is waiting preparing a place for all of us. We just have to believe and accept that he did what he did. For those of us who are Believers. Who have been raised being told about this event. Who have gone to church hearing story after story about events that happened in the Bible it is not difficult to fathom. We believe we comprehend that the he is not on the cross and the tomb is empty.

But for those that have never heard the true story. That have never had the opportunity to actually read a Bible and read the account of Jesus' death it is hard to comprehend.

It is hard for me to comprehend that there are actually people out there that have never really heard the true story of Jesus' birth, and life; and then death and resurrection. Yes. We all think about people in far off places that have not heard. And through the churches and missions organizations millions of dollars are spent to spread the word and share the gospel. But there are people. Teenagers right here. Your next door neighbor. The kid that sits by your kid in school.
That have not heard the true story.

They think that Easter is about baskets and bunnies and eating ham at grandma's.
And yes. That is what it is about. We all take the time to celebrate family and go to mom's or grandma's.

But the real truth is that Easter is about Eternity. Our opportunity. Our only opportunity to spend Eternity with the Living God.

So the question is what is Easter to you?

Verse of the Week Thoughts part two

God has placed this verse on my heart. I wrote about it on Tuesday concerning my grandchildren. And my prayer that their parents will train them up in the way they should go. I am Blessed to have an awesome Son in Love and Daughter in Love that love the Lord.

But as I think of them and my grandchildren I also think about the kids that I work with everyday.

One of the girls that I mentor told me the other day she didn't start reading till
4th grade. I immediately thought it was a learning disability. And I guess in a sense it was. She didn't go to school till 3rd grade; when her aunt learned of her plight and took her in. Her parents were so drug induced most of the time that they didn't see a need to put her in school. She was thier cook and maid and who knows what else. She is turning into an awesomely amazing young lady. But she doesn't know the Lord. And she has resorted to a lifestyle that is not pleasing to him. We pray for her and we talk to her everyday and just try to get her to see Jesus through us. She listens. She absorbs. She yearns to have that hole inside her filled.

Each week we provide groceries to 20 families that have teenagers on parole. Each week we put in the sack either a short devotional or a verse. Next week we are using the Deuteronomy scripture. I sent the photo I did the other day to my supervisor at the parole office and she played around with it and improved it. Today's version is her work. It is much improved from mine and I appreciate her work.

I think that I have learned the verse (with a few days to spare!) Here's my attempt at completely writing it from memory. I haven't figured out how to strick over words. I think of these things I need to learn and there are so many it takes time searching out how to do them. I think later I will write and post my list maybe some of you out there will be kind enough to help me out.
I hope you all have a Blessed day and thank God today for your families and your parents. If you were raised in a Christian home thank God. And please remember these verses as you train up your children. Blessings! Love,Sherry

Deuteronomy 6:5-9
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
These commands I give to you are to be upon your heart.
Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road. When you lie down and when you get up.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your forehead.
Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.

Word Filled Wednesday

Please go over and visit Amy at http://the160acrewoods.wordpress.com/ she has done some beautiful images this week in prepartion for Easter.
Please also check out my post yesterday. I'll put it back up tomorrow as well. It contains my own Word Filled post with the current memory verse. Here's my attempt at writing the verse from memory.

Deuteronomy 6:5-9
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all you soul and with all your strength.
These commands I give you today are to be upon your heart.
Impress them on your children.
Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road. When you lie down and when you get up.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your neck. Write them on your doorframes and on your gates.

Thank you God for your wonderful instuction. Thank you for the reminders that you love us. Please make my words and my thoughts yours.

Bible Verse Memory

These verses have been on my mind a lot as I have been working on memorizing them.
Impressing them on our children is so important that God even told us to do that. To talk about him and his word. So many children grow up never hearing about God's love for them. It breaks my heart when I talk to teenagers that are clueless about the gifts that await them.
And now while we wait on our newest grandbaby I think about the things that we all need to teach him. To show him how much God loves him.
Today I was impressed to begin reading for him. Even when he is not with me to read God's word and pray for him while I read. To pray that his mommy and daddy will continue to seek God's will and to train him up in the way he should go. To talk about God with him when they sit and when they lie down and when they walk along the road.

I hope that if you have a child that you will tell him about God's love. Pray for him or her. Read God's word and love them.

I blinked and . . .

I don't know where the time goes. The weekend flew by. Sunday was an amazing day of rest and just relaxtion. And I played in the sewing room. I got some new shelving last week and I worked most of the day washing and refolding fabric and getting it onto new shelves.
And wheather was so nice I had to work outside. Had some gates to move and rehang to section off parts to keep the horses off the pasture to let it green up some.
Cowboy is still recuperating from knee surgery so we didn't get to go to church yesterday. We did go the night before to service at a friends church. It was totally different than ours. The message was great. The music was great but not really my style. Anyway so at least we did get some worship and learning in if not on Sunday.
About the knee surgery. Recuperation is very slow. Sitting for any length of time. Or standing any length of time causes extreme swelling and pain. Any 1 hour outing takes 4-5 hours for him to recuperate. Last night was a really bad night for him because he walked outside for all of 30 minutes to help me. He helped me get two gates back up. And then spent the rest of the day and night with ice on his knee.
Anyway enough about that. That is where I was and what I was doing and not putting up a post. I do want to add a verse to memorize this week but once again I over committed myself last week. The Deuteronomy verse was too much well maybe not but I got bogged down toward the end of the week so I am repeating it this week.
Here it is partly from memory:
Deuteronomy 6:5-9
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength.
These commands that I give you today are to be upon your heart.
Impress them on your children.Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk
along the road when you lie down and when you get up.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

So this week I am starting again on this set of verses. I got the first 3 but got bogged down toward the end of the week. I think I am going to have to get on a schedule. I work so much better with one. Especially since it is getting so much warmer outside. I spend much more time out there.

And I also spend a lot of time reading blogs and writing posts. And taking pictures. Although they aren't very good. But I am learning my way around photo shop and I made a change to Friday's Show and Tell post. Nothing huge I just cropped one of the photo's of the quilts. Here it is but go back over and check it out. I finally figured out how to crop. Yea. On my Saturday's post at the very end is a photo of my rabbit I put a frame around it. I like the way it looks.

I hope that although today I just wrote about what I have been up to that someone is Blessed by this blog. It is my desire to share God with you. I am praying for you.

Saturday Dog and Cat stories Bunny edition

This is a followup to the post I wrote a few days ago about spring decorating. Scroll down to my thursday post and you will think your seeing this photo.
But it isn't the same one. . .
O.K. I'll help you out. Notice on the above photo there is a bunny on the edge of the bowl actually sitting on the table. Look back at the top photo. He is gone.
Here's where he was . . .

How did it end up there?
Here's how.
This is a photo of Daisy and Rascal. Rascal is the one laying there appearing to be innocently taking a much needed nap. And I guess the nap was deserved he was tired from terrorizing I guess. Rascal is 5. And he is not sure actually that he is a cat. I have a terrible time taking photos of the cats. They both run everytime they see the camera. Rascal is a lot of fun most of the time. Except when we accidentally leave him in at night and close our bedroom door. We have learned we have to keep the door ajar because he will come in around 4 a.m. and scratch at the door. He loves to sneak in the bedroom in the middle of the night and lay on my feet. I hate a cat on my feet or even next to my feet.
A few nights ago he came in (Cowboy was not a sleep)he watched Rascal come in and wake up Daisy and get her to go and get into trouble. He did this three times that night. I guess I shouldn't complain we did name him Rascal.
And, I really don't think he knows he is a cat. He plays with Daisy. He sleeps with Daisy. His job is catching mice in the barn but he doesn't do that very well.
He does do this really well.
He scratches at the door to come in the house. He is a fun cat. Although my favorite pet has to be Daisy. And is always a dog I do enjoy having a cat around. Except when they destory my attempt at decorating. They also climb the Christmas tree. But I learned a trick somewhere tye bells to the bottom branches of the tree and when they go and get under it you'll hear the bells ringing (a pain in the middle of the night...but somethings you have to put up with) then squirt them with a squirt gun and they will run. It works they leave the tree alone. I just can't figure out how to keep them out of this green bowl. I had those little balls covered with seeds on them in the fall and I kept finding them all over the floor.
But I have to smile because they are so cute. And Cowboy loves them even if he says he doesn't!
I promised yesterday I would write about Rhett Butler too. There is a lovely little photo of him at the end of yesterdays post. I played around with it in photo shop and put a frame around it. Rhett Butler is a Flemish Giant. He is a breed of rabitt that can be as large as a house cat and weigh as much as 25 pounds. He is really sweet. He has a big cage but it really isn't big enough for him. The don't make comercial cages big enough. So he gets to live on the floor in our mude room. He goes in his cage if he wants but I don't like to leave him closed up in it too much. He can stretch out completely in it and turn around but he can't really run around and hop which is what rabbits do when they are really happy. I'll post more about Rhett Butler next saturday so you will have to come back and read about it.

Collection of quilts for my Children and Grandchildren

A Collection of Quilts for my children and grandchildren
(updated on Monday...I cropped one of the photos and it looks so much better. I added the dummies at blogging tag too!)

Hi Welcome again to my Show and Tell. I got the inspiration from Kelli over at There's no place like home.
Today I wanted to show you a quilt that I pieced for my daughter when she started college. I was on a trip to Texas using a borrowed friends car so I didn't want to drive too much so I went to a non quilt shop to purchase these fabrics. I got the inspiration from a magazine that I read on my trip down. My daughter was at the time planning to be a school teacher.
Notice that I said in my first line I pieced the quilt. As you can tell it isn't quilted yet. My daughter told me that she really hoped that she wouldn't start getting a bunch of apple themed gifts when she became a teacher. The quilt top got finished and packed away. I never told her about the quilt. BTW she changed her major and went into agriculture. She works for a large chicken producer and is expecting her first child.
Here is a photo of the current quilt that I am working on for her. Hopefully it will not become a part of the unfinished collection. And she will enjoy it.
I started this one a couple of years ago. It is a Cathedral Window and is hand pieced and quilted basically at the same time. It will be a large throw for her living room. It ends up being a really heavy quilt and really warm.
The next photo in this collection was fun.
This quilt I kind of "messed up" a bit. I took an easy star pattern with squares and triangles and instead of making a star I designed a new pattern. I like the way it turned out and it was good experience. It made a great just playtime quilt.
I hope you enjoyed seeing these quilts. I'll post more soon.
Have a Blessed Day and enjoy Show and Tell over at Kelli's blog. Her button is on my sidebar click on it and go see the Show and Tell's there.

Friday Show and Tell

Good Morning. Welcome once again to Show and Tell Friday hosted by Kelli.
Over on the side bar is her cute button. Click on it and go check out the other Show and Tell's too. It is always fun.
My Show and tell is a little different today. Usually we all show things like collections or treasures. My Show and Tell today is more of an embarrasment to me than something I enjoy or am proud of. This is my front porch.

In these photo's it happens to be dry. But when it rains the porch fills with water. There are no gutters on the house. Hopefully you'll notice my attempt and decorating it with the rug and the bunny stepping stone.
But I need help. So here's the challenge to all you decorators out there. I need some no cost ideas to spruce this up. The area is too narrow for a chair. The window is to low for a planter box. The area gets too wet for much in the way of flowerbeds. Although at one time I did have monkey grass and some annuals but there isn't money in the budget for annuals.
My husband said it looks like Munsters house. So please help me with some ideas!
I know it does look pretty bad. But Daisy is waiting at the door to invite you in. And once inside you are greeted with some of the things I love. And here is one just in time for Easter.

Please leave me a comment and an idea for decorating. And come back tomorrow and I'll introduce you Rhett Butler.

Dummies at Blogging? Spring Decorating

Welcome to my short post about spring decorating. I wrote yesterday about the problem I am having with the computer. I think my life is possessed by some force that is trying to make me nuts.
For two days I have not been able to open Photoshop. I just purchased it a couple of weeks ago. So thought I did something wrong and the trial version was over.
Then this morning I was searching in hard copies for a report I should have filed in Jan. at the foodbank because they say they didn't receive it. I couldn't find the hardcopy. So I look for the email copy. Nothing there either. So I figure that was about the time I changed computers. So I go looking into the files that they had put from the old computer on this one. And somehow Photoshop opened.
I know that I am a bit of a master and digging things up and going and in the back door when necessary because I am a dummy at blogging but this is ridiculous. Anyway I wanted to post this photo really quick. Now I am back to searching for the missing report.
But this cute bunny I added to the bathroom mirror light. She is a little pot hanging but I have never put her on a plant because I wouldn't want her to fall off and get broken. She looks lovely I think and the light.
More later I hope. Have a Blessed Day.

Spring Decorating

I put the welcome mat out and opened the gate to invite you all in to see how I have started my spring decorating.
First I started in the sewing studio and dressed "Hannah Homemaker" in a lovely crocheted apron. (I should have added pearls)

Then I changed the green bowl that once held hearts to hold some of my small bunnies. Notice how many there are in this photo.
I have to admit that I had other spring decorating photo's planned. But something has gone haywire. I copied them off the camera's to c.d.'s because the computer won't talk to the camera anymore. Then today when I got ready to put them in this post the computer won't talk to the c.d. drive. It was working before because the bunnies and the photo of Hannah I managed to download a few days ago. So I'll be adding my "dummies at blogging" label to this post.
Trust me I do have more spring decorations. I redid the mantle and a couple of other things. Hopefully I can get them loaded later.
I hope you do enjoy my little short tour. Come back on Saturday and find out the whole mystery about how many bunnies are in the green bowl. Hint. It has to do with my regular Saturday post about Cats,Dogs,Horses etc.
Have a great day.

Party On . . . Sunday edition

Hi. Welcome again to our blog party hosted by http://www.5minutesformom.com
Thier really cute Ultimate Blog Party button is over on the side bar.
We have been waiting for you all day while these were sittin' around doin' thier thing. Thier thing meaning we marinaded them in McCormick Montreal Grilling Spice.
You know yesterday I mentioned what a sweet hostess Daisy is. Well here she is again. We can't show faces because I don't know who left thier kid but Daisy and my Cowboy went for hot dogs. (I'm sure she is grateful that kid showed up she loves a chance to go for a "ride") Here they are serving your kid. If he's yours would you please come back and get him before dark.
The grill isn't quite ready for the steaks so while we are waiting I'll tell you a little more about me.
One of my most favorite things is sewing and quilting. Although I am learning that I really think I prefer looking at them and playing with the fabric and cutting kits than actually sewing them. I figured that out you see because I don't have a lot of finished product. Now don't get me wrong I have finished many quilts that I have given away to various people for various occasions. But actually finishing one for myself I seem to have difficulty with. I mentioned cutting kits. In our ministry I teach teenagers to sew. They make baby and child size quilts, little skirts and pillowcases. All these things are donated to orphnages and other charities.
I quess playing with fabric in some form is my favorite thing to do.
I also like to read but don't do it much anymore for a couple of reasons. I get totally consumed in a book. I tend to forget to return them to the library. And I don't really have the funds anymore to buy books. I am not too interested in the trading book thing because I really like to keep my books.
Oh my cowboy husband is hollerin' that the grill is ready. They look so yummy layin' on that fire.
I know I don't have much time because we only grill our steaks 3-4 minutes on each side. And that depends on the fire. I hope you like yours rare.
I mentioned yesterday I love to cook. And I love to be a frugal shopper. (actually I have to) But it is definately a challenge that I enjoy. If you happen onto your Kroger which is where I bought the lettuce for our salad and they have marked down bags of salad. Grab them up. Well check them out first. Usually they will last a few more days in the fridge. Just make sure that there isn't any rust on them when you buy them. I never buy salad at regular price. Have you noticed how much eggs are? There some things you can't always get on sale and how can you skip the eggs.
Oh time to plate up the steaks. (notice the cookin' show lingo there. I love to watch food network and HGTV. More on that later. Sink your teeth into this.
Let me get you all another glass of tea. And ya'll sit back and enjoy. I have talked your ear off enough so I'll let everyone just visit. And if Daisy begs just ignore. She really isn't hungry. Stay as long as you like and have fun.
Now please I know this kid likes it here but please go ahead and take him home. I'll be going in to get back on the computer around 10:00 so just shut the gate when you leave.
p.s. One more thing before you go in case you haven't figured it out. I love, love, love this whole blogging thing. Although I am not real good. I am really learning a lot. I have to give credit. So below are the credits for the photo's.
(I am having camera problems and so I don't get to use as many of my own as regularly as I want)
Steak and ingredients (mine can't you tell)
Boy and dog and hotdog and pretend Cowboy husband (Dreamtime free)
Steak on grill (Dreamtimes free)
Garden gate (I borrowed from somewhere back during my Valentine Party check my archives. Sorry I don't know where I got it but I think it was another free stock photo place.)
See ya'll tomorrow. And would someone please take that kid home!

Ultimate Blog Party Lunch is served!

Hi welcome to the Ultimate Blog Party hosted by two mom's that are sisters. They are over at 5 minutes for mom. I hope if you click on the cute little button on my sidebar it will take you there. I am a bit of a dummy at blogging so I cannot promise it actually works.
Come on in. I have had the welcome mat out all morning. You can check my earlier posts. But before you do. Come on in for a fabulous Mexican inspired lunch.

Here's some wonderful chicken enchilada's. Half are regular flour tortilla's and half are wholewheat. BTW if your really not into eating a little healthy take my word for it the wholewheat tastes just as good and with all the other gooyiness and yummy cheese and chicken I think you could sneak it past the most decerning husbands and children. These yummy creations are filled with chicken breast meat and wonderful cheddar cheese.
To go with the enchilada's we are serving.

Didn't I tell you those enchilda's are yummy. Someone has already busted into them!
Along with the enchilada's are some wonderful baked beans ala Mexican style. Some yummy cheese and corn cornbread. And for dessert just plain 'ole yummy chocolate cake with walnut icing.
I hope you enjoy your meal. I almost forgot. Raid the fridge for ice cold Dr. Pepper and some Green tea. Sorry that is about all we ever have in the house. Except for o.j. and kool aid. But choose what ever you want.

Well I know that I am supposed to introduce myself to all you wonderful party girls.
So here is just a little.
I am a SAHM and Grandmom. Well sort of I stayed home till just over 4 years ago. My husband was called to full time ministry. And so I began to work with him. We have been fulltime in ministry for 4 years. It is a Blessing. And I love it.
But I realized that I was loosing myself. Letting the ministry absorb every hour and every minute. I haven't been bold enough to take photo's of the house during the bomb stage. It is getting better each day.
I'll share more with you about the ministry another day. And I'll post a link to the blog.
But more about just little 'ole me.
I love to cook. I love to entertain. These are a couple of things that went on the back burner for the last four years. I hope to change that this year.
I love animals. Most all animals except rodent type and slither type. We live on a little acreage and we have 3 horses and 2 mini donkeys. And so those yucky type animals I just mentioned do inhabit the place with us. But we also have an outside cat and he has a job but I don't think he does it very well. (another story) We also have an inside cat. Her name is Miss Kitty. Because she is. Also part of the family are two rabbits. One is a flemish giant. And, it is his relative that you see every year advertising for Cadbury. The asked my Rhett Butler to do the spot but he said "no" because it would require to much time away from home and he knew that I would miss him terribly. And also his cage mate "Danger" would miss him too. Danger is a grey lopped ear really fat little girl.
And last but of course not least is our lovely hostess. My Daisy. She was holding down the party earlier this morning while I was blog hopping and running around to the other parties.
Whew. That was a lot about me! But wait. There is more. But I know that you probably have finished off that dessert. And I know your just itching to go to the next party.
So I'll leave all the other really interesting things about me for another post.
I hope you all really enjoyed your visit and I hope you enjoyed lunch.
Come by tomorrow around lunch time again and I think we'll have the grill out.
Have fun partying. Blessings to all. Sherry

Ultimate Blog Party Saturday edition #2

Ok so I got distracted. We were talking about all the fun parties and really I was on my way back. But I heard about this party over at me and my puppies. They are #240 over at the Ultimate Party Blog. And here's the way to get to them. http://02132523.blogspot.com/
And you know me. They are serving these wonderful cream puffs and I just had to stop over and say hi and meet the dogs. I wish I had daisy with me but. I did get a doggy bag.

Aren't they yummy Daisy is such a sweet hostess. Here she is inviting all the guests in while I was gone.

I had such a fun visit and Daisy is begging to go back. But we have a party going on here. And well we have some cleaning to do. Thanks for stopping in while I was gone. Let us get this mess cleaned up. I told you about that floor. You didn't listen.
And let me restock the fridge. (ya'll must have had fun...I see why you didn't leave a comment.) I'll be cooking Mexican food for lunch so come on back by oh let's say around 1:00. That way I'll have time to stop in at a couple of other parties on my way to the store. Maybe I can pick up a couple of appetizers along the way.
See you later.
Sherry

Ultimate Blog Party Saturday edition

Hi, The Welcome mat is still out for the Ultimate Blog Party. Don't worry about wiping your feet. No really. It is ok. No one really does it around here. You don't believe ? Just look in my archives. You'll see a whole post about mud and boots. Come on in.

Sorry I know it is a little lonely right now. I ran over to chat with Amy Dean at
the 160acreawood.wordpress.com and got stuck. She is having a wonderful party over there!

The hot tub looked so inviting after all the snow around here.
We're still hanging out. But the reason I came over is because something happended to the Mr. Linky over at 5 minutes for mom and my link didn't work. So I popped over to talk to Amy because I know she is all tight with the sisters there. And well we are kind of enjoying this hot tub. I'll be back in a little while. Okey Dokey. Go ahead though and sit down and rest awhile. I left the heat on and just raid the fridge.

Ultimate Blog Party

The Welcome mat is out. Come on in for the Ultimate Blog Party. I am kind of new at blogging and you will notice one of my catergories is "dummies at blogging" but I think you'll have fun visiting.
Don't forget to look at my archves too. I have it set to only keep a weeks worth of posts up. So, there is lots in the archives.

I really enjoy blogging. And I hope you enjoy visiting. I guess I was a little confused about the party because I thought it started at midnight. When I went over to check at 5 minutes for mom there were already almost 500 already signed in! Wow.
So, I am honored if you take the time to visit.

Please, please, please leave a comment and let me know you visited. And, have lots of fun at the party. I know I will.
Blessings. Sherry

Show and Tell Friday

Welcome again to my Show and Tell sponsored by Kelli over at Kellishouse.blogspot.com
She has an awesome little party every Friday so run over and check out all the Show and Tells.
Here's mine for today. Another corner of my house. Everything around here revolves around the family and horses which are party of the family. Here are photos of my den.

This shelf I got at my favorite little antique shop. I originally bought it to store bolts of fabric in my sewing room but got it home set it in the den and it just fit in so perfectly it got to stay. I just called out to all these treasures and they just floated right over. It is actually two pieces and they didn't originally go together. I can't take the credit for the painting or even putting them together. But I love they way it looks.
Here's a closer view of whats inside.
On the bottom shelf in front of the books is a wooden trophy from a horse show. We didn't win this. It is from the 60's I think I found it at our local Riding Club in a closet. I thought it was nostalgic and I loved the way it looked. On the right is my daughter (in the purple sequin girly frame) with my horse. I bought the frame at Eckerds for $1.00 on clearance. I was perfect for this shot of my girls! On the left is an orange candle that a friend at church gave me "just because" It had the sweetest note. (I'll have to write about that another time) Up on the top shelf (I think) you can see a rabbit frame. (Yes there are rabitts hiding all over my house)
That frame is a few years old. The photo's are of my husband and the kids fishing.
The kids are like 4 and 6. (More on that another day too) The books that fill these shelves are all about horses, and taking care of and training horses. I love my little library.
I have one more photo of the room. This grouping is
on another wall. And yes it is our dresser. It does match my furniture in the den. I moved it in here a few weeks ago because this long wall was so bare. I also wanted a chair in the bedroom so without the dresser there I have a little chair. I realized we didn't really use the dresser for clothes. So what few things were in there I put in the lingerea chest and nightstands and moved it. I really like it here. The whooly chaps hanging on the wall we bought in Rapid City South Dekota. We went on vacation there for an antigue auction. It was amazing. The bronze on the end is a Remington. We bought it many years ago. It doesn't really match the time period of the rest of the house because it is a mountain man. But we like so it stays. In the center leaning against the wall is my daughter and her horse. I wrote about him a couple of days ago. You'll have to read that post. As you can see she loves her horse. And last but not least on the dresser is a ceramic dish that my sister who lives in Seattle sent me. I think it is pretty. She finds the neatest treasures.
I hope that you have enjoyed my little tour of my part of Texas.
And please come over during the 5 minutes for mom blog party and take a tour of my blog. I'll have the gate open so come on in. Have a Blessed day. I am off to tromp through the snow now!

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful that so far this morning I am not seeing this.

And that I am not having to wear these. Actually you can tell these are not my boots. And I know I posted them before we were having such a rainy weekend. But they really are cute. And I think they are cheerful.

I know I shouldn't be so cheerful and happy that it isn't raining because I know that we need it but. If I would just rain a little at a time and maybe a light rain at night you know while we are all asleep and not having to run around in it. That would be fine with me. And I know I really shouldn't complain because it really doesn't rain much here. But when it does we get a downpour usually.

I have a lot to do today and so that is why I am thankful that it isn't raining yet.
I realized the other day when I was writing a post that although I am not a list maker than I do seem to organize my time and plans and schedule things. I guess I really am somewhat of a list maker. Because here's my list of things to do today.

Buy grain this morning
Clean the kitchen again
Work on daughters Cathedral window quilt
Work on ministry blog
Laundry

So with all that said. I am off now to work on the list but first here's the verse of the week. I am doing really well this week.

Dueteronomy 6:5-9
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
These commands I give to you today to be upon your heart.
Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
